Martin Munns. The Fareham, Fareham.
We pride ourselves at the Fareham as being a Family Friendly Pub and will not tolerate any bad behaviour or bad language. This has made us become the choice venue for many local clubs. This includes all walks of life from the local motorbike club to a weekender's club which has 70 members who meet every Monday night. We also provide a meeting place for the local old people every two weeks. All of this is done at no charge. We also supply free tea, coffee and sandwiches.
We also have our own sports teams which include two dart teams and we have just started a cribbage team. We also support the Local Darts in our area by holding the biggest pub darts competition in the area where we donate £750 to the prize money. We also support local live music and hold an open mic at the pub to showcase local artists. This has become the biggest open mic in Hampshire, which saw one of the artists become the UK Open Mic champion at the end of last year.
As well as this we also hold live music every Friday and Saturday evening for our locals to enjoy. Other things we do at the pub include family days with BBQ and Hog Roast and a weekly quiz night.
In the Last Year the Fareham Pub has raised £18,987.00 for local good causes, bringing the total over the last two years to £34,628.00. Since September 2015 we have been really busy here at the Fareham Pub trying to help as many local causes as possible:

St.Francis is a special school for children aged between 2 and 19 with severe learning difficulties or profound and multiple learning difficulties which is located within the Fareham area. The school had been vandalised three times in a matter of weeks, so we decided at the Fareham that something needed to been done. So we contacted the school and paid for the school to have two fully operational CCTV systems installed; the school has not been vandalised since. The vandalism was upsetting for the children who did not understand so we then paid for a Christmas Pantomime to be held at the school for all the children to see. We brought the production down to the south coast from London.
Kids with their Young Carers Project is a place for young Carers to meet. A young carer is someone under the age of eighteen who lives within the Fareham area and provides ongoing and substantial care for a family member. We believe that these children need some time on their own from the tireless work they do day in day out. So we sent them on an all-expenses paid daytrip to Longleat Safari Park.
We are also in the early stages, in conjunction with the police and council, of trying to set up a security team walking the streets of Fareham on a Friday and Saturday night. This is to ensure the safety of not just our customers walking home but any member of the public on the streets of Fareham.
If we won an award, we would like the money to go towards our own charity, which is Fareham In Need. With the money we intend to continue to help struggling families within the ties of our community. The money will go a long way to help us carry out new initiatives and with the help of our customers, continue to help our community in a way that we believe is making a difference.
