Paul Vavasour

Regional Manager

I have always been involved in retailing, sales and marketing  throughout my career and have gained two post-graduate diplomas along the way, one in Retail Marketing, the other in Multi-Unit Leadership in 2012. This has given me a more rounded knowledge of the industry and how to take a pub from being good to great!

I have been lucky enough to work for companies such as Allied Lyons, Carlsberg, Punch Taverns and Greene King but relished the opportunity to join ei group who are the largest pub co in the UK. Although I have worked in a variety of positions, managing large and smaller teams, I realised I prefer the daily contact between retailers and myself. So, I now run an area of 45 sites in the Worcester, Evesham and Tewkesbury areas recruiting the right retailers for the right pubs – with the right offer.

Even though I am experienced in the trade, I completed an intensive induction programme which updated my skills and provided me with the right tools to do the job effectively. In fact I have always been passionate about training, as in my experience, more prospective tenants who complete training courses are successful, than those who aren't.

Helen McKenna

Regional Manager

Prior to joining Ei group I worked within a National Restaurant Chain for just over 9 years and was based in the North of England, a short break from the trade I worked for the Insolvency Service as a consultant for two years before joining ei group.

Covering the Stratford and Warwickshire area, I am very fortunate to work with some fantastic and award winning publicans. I think it is fair to say that every day is varied and what makes the role for me will always be working with interesting and entrepreneurial people. I love the industry since joining ei group in 2008 I have seen some significant changes and challenges , but have watched my publicans standards outshine the competition, operations become slicker and them fully buy into the new products, marketing skills and food offers. The speed in which they able to evolve is what keeps them a cut above the rest.

I continue to enjoy my time at ei group with a personal highlight being winning last years ALMR rising Star award.​

Ben Jones

Head of Developments for Ei Managed Investments and Ei Commercial Properties

I’ve been involved with the Pub Industry for twenty four years in both managed and leased and tenanted roles.

I love the unique part that licensed properties play in our everyday lives including the way that they constantly re-invent themselves to provide what the customer wants.

There are two keys facets to my role, the first being as client liaison with experienced operators to help them develop a portfolio of properties that can deliver their unique and successful retail offer through the use of strategic capital investments. Secondly to ensure that we continually develop and find new uses for our growing commercial free of tie and non-licensed property estate nationally.

Both these are areas of key focus to Ei group as it continues to evolve. The role is exciting, challenging and hugely rewarding.

I’m working with great people and great properties ensuring that we both protect our assets and future proof them at the same time.

Alexander Ashton

Property Manager

Property Manager - What a great job!

I joined Ei Group in 2016 as Property Manager covering Greater London and I have really enjoyed it. The people and the pubs are fantastic and there is so much variation in what needs to be done.  I report into the Head of Property and I support 6 Regional Managers as well as 250 pubs. As I am sure you can imagine there are always things to do and I am supported in this by two Property Surveyors who I mentor as well as the Helpdesk. There are fantastic opportunities at our pubs and I have enjoyed helping realise the potential of them.  This year we have developed a really good capex pipeline and completed some great projects as well as sorting out numerous issues.  I feel having commercial experience has really helped and I have developed a close working relationship with the Regional Managers.  I am really pleased with the progress that has been made and I am looking forward to the new adventures and opportunities await.

Ian Menhinick

Project Manager

I have worked in the retail and leisure sector for over 20 years as a Project Manager, a Property Manager, and as a Consultant, before joining Ei Group in 2014.

My current role is to deliver the capital investment requirements of the Bermondsey Pub Company.  This principally involves refurbishment and conversion of pubs to meet the high standards and exceptional features of the Bermondsey Pub Company, but also includes roll-out of project investment initiatives across the group, developing and implementing planned maintenance programmes and managing significant reactive maintenance issues and trends.

The core requirements of my role are to ensure that all investments are carried out to agreed timescales, budgets and to the highest possible standards of design and workmanship.  I work with an excellent internal team of Operators and service providers ensuring that their requirements and expectations of the projects and investments are understood, interpreted, challenged where necessary, agreed and ultimately delivered.  I work with teams of contractors, consultants and suppliers to ensure that we have the right people working in the right way, clear in their understanding of what is required, to deliver these investments successfully.

Chloe Forletta

Customer Account Manager

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​I am a Customer Account Manager in the Sales & Service Centre and have worked for ei group since 2004. I am responsible for approximately 120 publican accounts and I call weekly to obtain their drinks requirements.

I offer all of my publicans the latest deals we have and try to ensure I get the best possible value for them, especially within the drinks categories that are most important to their business. When brand owners are in the office and there are additional Point of Sale items available, I ensure I offer my publicans these, to help build their business and give them an opportunity to offer their consumers something extra. I want my pubs to be the best in their area by having the best range for their customers.

One of the benefits of the Customer Account Manager role is that publicans have a regular point of contact for many different things, such as discussing new brands to the market, working out gross profits, recommended retail prices and technical service queries. Publicans are guaranteed to receive a weekly call on the same day every week at a pre-arranged time.​

The Sales & Service Centre is a buzzing place to work. We work hard and play hard and some of the rewards on offer are unbelievable.​

Recruitment Co-ordinator

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​I have worked for the ei group Recruitment Team for four and half years and thrive on the diversity; there are so many different elements to the role that no two days are the same.

The most rewarding aspect of my job and what I look forward to most every day is the fact that I get to speak to some really great people with such impressive ideas for a pub business that you actually get excited for them! Hearing their aspirations and plans to create a flourishing and successful new venture is inspiring, their passion for the trade and enthusiasm to succeed is remarkable.

I love that I am a part of their journey and get to provide a potential publican with support from the first initial enquiry call, right up until they sign their agreement to start their exciting new future. As well as the applicant, I also assist the Regional Managers with the letting process and ensure a high level of customer service to all parties involved. I feel this is imperative to guarantee excellent communication throughout so everyone feels at ease and informed.

Whether my day consists of writing letting details for the website, organising a recruitment event or assisting someone find their dream pub business, I know that there will always be something that makes that day totally worthwhile.​​
